Jerrry Schimke Photography

I believe every photographic image speaks for itself and every individual viewer interprets the ultimate meaning of an image through their own reference frame.  Photography allows me to express and share a bit of myself.   I am intrigued by the interaction of light and color with physical forms of all scales, and particularly fascinated by the contribution of time and reflections to any particular scene.

Each of us experiences, uses and is affected by time in our own individual way, and societies may be characterized by their relationships with time.  But, what is time?  In our ever faster paced world, it is difficult to keep time in perspective.  Is it eternal?  Or does the observer give rise to the existence of time through his observations of it?

I view reflection as the process by which energy rebounds from a smooth, unyielding surface to create a reversed image.  It is also the process by which contemplative thought rebounds from, continually revisits, and illuminates an issue over time.

Whether shooting landscape, portraiture or still life, I attempt to create images capturing the essence of a moment, or illustrating its timelessness.  I seek to give the viewer an opportunity to explore their relationship with the subject matter and, perhaps, to expand their own experience of life.
